Erected in 1878, as a combination city hall, jail, and theatre, the Sandwich Opera House was the hub of the community until the 1950s, when it was shut down as a performance hall. In 1979 interest was renewed and the building was successfully placed on the National Register of Historic Places. It reopened to live performances in April of 1986. Today, the opera house continues to provide and exceptional level of live entertainment to the Fox Valley. We strive to bring high quality performances that appeal to a wide range of audiences. We also rent out the theatre and community room for private events including weddings, educational seminars, showers, and birthday parties. Opportunities exist to become a financial supporter or volunteer for the nonprofit organization.
