Name:Truman’s Ridge appearing at the Sandwich Opera House
Date:October 4, 2019
Time:7:00 PM - 9:00 PM CDT
Event Description:
Truman’s Ridge, an exciting, fast-paced Chicago style bluegrass band, will present a concert at the Sandwich Opera House, 140 East Railroad Street in Sandwich, IL at 7 p.m. on Friday, October 4, 2019. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased at the door or online at www.sandwichoperahouse.org. Come enjoy and evening of energetic, compelling music. Organized in 2008, the band has been playing festivals and venues all over Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana, Tennessee and Missouri. Truman’s Ridge has high energy and influences of Chicago jazz and blues, and Midwestern string bands, making a listening experience that is classic bluegrass, yet unique. Their harmonies are varied, at times reminiscent of the early brother bands, and at other times showing a strong rural-gospel influence in the two, three, and four-part vocals. The rock-solid beat of the guitar and bass compliment the driving rhythm of the banjo and the compelling mandolin and dobro lead breaks. According to Bluegrass Unlimited, “Vocally, they offer a smoother more urban sound, one tempered with tradition and blues. In an age of similar approaches, it’s good to hear a band with a different aim and result.” The band consists of Steven Sarver on guitar and vocals, Bruce Wallace on banjo, harmonica and vocals, Chris Johnson on upright bass, guitar and vocals, Charley Smart on dobro and vocals, and special guest Wesley Carr on mandolin and fiddle. Truman’s Ridge has released four cd’s: Tru-Blue, Long Way Home, Cold Cold Feeling, and Louisiana Swing, available on CDBaby and iTunes. They are currently recording their fifth CD, expected to be out by Christmas, 2019.
Truman’s Ridge would like to invite your staff and families to their performance at the Sandwich Opera House on Friday, Oct. 4 at 7pm. Tickets are only $5. You will enjoy this family friendly show!
