Robert McCormick’s innovations in publishing are well known. This presentation examines his groundbreaking use of women reporters, editors, and columnists, starting in World War I though today, in the Chicago Tribune. These women covered troops in WWI France, scandalous Jazz Age trials, and provided secret information from Berlin during the Nazi regime and more. McCormick also capitalized on the changing role of women after World War I by appealing directly to their tastes and interests. Presentation by Laurie Russell of Cantigny Park.
